There You Were - June 6th, 2012 - TM
There you were, just standing... there when I first met you.
No birds sang, no bells rang, no rainbows with its colorful fingers.
It was a quiet thing, this meeting of souls. Gentle as a breeze and still as the night.
Shall we work together I said. But of course, was your answer.
We both knew the dance as old as pyramids and temple scents.
Long ago promises longed to be fulfilled.
Shall I change, I asked. As will I, you said. And we did just that.
Unaware that time would run away, leaving us divided and individual once more.
Leaving the foreign separateness and the disorientation of the awakened dreamer.
We looked at each other, now strangers, yet forever more.
We did good work, you said. But of course, I answered
Time to move forward swinging into the future on our playground monkey bars.
Resolution, I say. Restitution, you smile.
Now new lives, new thoughts, and new works to be created.
With difficult steps and near stumbling we walk away, each going their own direction.
It was a quiet parting of souls, still as newness and sharp as day.
No fading music, no credits running, no house lights coming up.
There you were, just standing there when I last saw you.
